About Théo Penavaire

I’m Théo Penavaire, a freelance CI/CD and test automation consultant. I help engineering teams ship faster and safer: slow CI, flaky tests, developer productivity, and AI agents in the pipeline where they help.

Teams often look for a DevOps consultant or a CI/CD consultant when they call me. My part of DevOps is the path from a commit to a release: the CI pipeline, the tests, and the platform engineering work around them.

For six years I worked at Unity, in the Engine organisation that builds the Unity runtime and editor. I kept the graphics test suite running on more than 20 platforms, moved a large codebase into the engine monorepo without stopping development, and made test runs faster without losing coverage. Most of what I know about delivery comes from that work: queues, flaky tests, slow feedback, and the people who wait on all three.

Before Unity, I worked on the management software for virtual reality venues at VR Connection. I studied at Epitech in Paris, with an exchange year at Concordia University in Montréal.

In 2026 I went freelance. I lived in Paris for 30 years and now operate from Norway.

Languages

French and English, both at native level. Spanish at an intermediate level (B1), Norwegian at an elementary level (A2).

Outside work

I write on this blog about CI, test automation and a few other things. I build small tools: Monfil, a feed reader, and Flow Town, a map of Enablement Engineering.
